Savannah’s pickleball community is growing and we want to put our full support behind Chatham County and the city of Savannah building permanent, standalone pickleball nets. Pickleball is a massive wave across the United States, with more courts and tournaments popping up.

Pickleball: The fastest growing sport you've never heard of

Palmetto Dunes on Hilton Head has 16 public courts, and is adding 8 more. Griffin, GA has 18 permanent courts available for play. Macon, GA is building courts as well. Atlanta has now hosted multiple nationally visited tournaments on the permanent courts there. Camden, SC has 12 courts.

It’s not just a recreational desire, there is economic opportunity. Both Palmetto Dunes and Atlanta are now hosts on the pickleball tournament circuit. These draw in 1,000+ professional and amateur players, and fans, for multiple days. People aren’t only traveling to tournaments, more people are traveling with pickleball in mind, and we are a city that leans heavily on the tourism industry. The Landings currently hosts an annual tournament with over 150 players attending each year.

Anyone for pickleball? Resorts embrace booming sport.

As Savannah/Chatham County residents and avid pickleball players, we think our community has an opportunity to satisfy a growing desire among residents, and to be on the front end of the expanding economic opportunity that pickleball is becoming.
