Pickleball is taking root everywhere in the U.S. and Canada. Most of the Seattle community centers are having pickleball play twice a week, Mercer Island four times a week including Sunday. Other community centers all over the country are having pickleball. We would like to have pickleball at the Northgate Community Center as well.

Seeing this support grow has been a heavy but necessary reminder that I am not the only one frustrated by the lack of space for us. I am exhausted by the constant phone calls and emails but seeing your names attached to this keeps me moving forward.

Please open up the Northgate Community Center to pickleball. The growing Seattle pickleball scene needs more places to play, especially in north Seattle.

Great idea and big need to have PBall at the Northgate center. It will probably be a big moneymaker for the center!

Pickleball allows seniors like me (I'm 78) to stay in shape with an activity that is fun. I could use an exercycle, stairclimber, etc., but for me they are no fun.

Pickleballl continues to grow despite the limited number of courts at most facilities. We need every available center to allocate time for this game. Otherwise we spend much more time waiting for a court than playing.

Pickleball is a fun healthy sport growing rapidly in popularity and Seattle needs more places to play (especially during evenings and weekends for players who work during the day). Please consider providing pickleball at Northgate Community Center!

We really need another place to play! We are flexible with time of day since most of us are retired. It would be great if we could get two times during the week of at least 2 hours each. Plus an evening time for those that work!

Seattle planning has designated Northgate as an Urban Center. A key design concept is “to create a healthier, more livable and denser mixed use community.” The recreational center should enhance it’s mixed use offerings by adding pickleball to its list of healthy physical activities. Developers are continuing to build apartments, condos and senior living facilities nearby and pickleball at the rec center would provide a much needed physical activity for current and future residents. The nearby transit center also makes Northgate the one rec facility in the Seattle that would be accessible to individuals throughout the region without the need to drive a car.

highlightdelete I was there at the Northgate Community Center today to pick up an activity schedule. A busy looking woman said to me "May I help you" I said "I like a brochure" and begin to ask her about the courts which is all striped for badminton with cover plates for poles. I said "Why can't we have pickleball here" and she said "Because this facility is not meant to have pickleball and there are other places to play the game". I said something like that the other CC are too crowed and left at that realizing I am not getting anywhere with her. But I told her that I will come back to meet with the new director. She said "On the 26 and you can ask him then" I thanked her and left. Looking at the Northgate CC schedule, the gym is not used much at all: Mon. the gym from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM is open, Tue after 12:45 the Gym is open, Wed.open all day until 6:30 PM.,Thur.10 :00 AM. to 4:30 PM. is open, Fri. gym is open 12:15PM to 5:15 PM.
