For more than a decade, Girl Scouts of Suffolk County’s (GSSC’s) Holiday Light Show has become a family holiday tradition for many. The show raises funds for vital Girl Scout programs and outreach services, and provides for campground sustainability. More than 8,000 young women are now able to participate in Girl Scouts because of the show.

We, as Girl Scouts, believe in our hearts that an event run by Girl Scouts, for the benefit of Girl Scouts, has every right to be held on property owned by Girl Scouts.

As with all our programs and events, safety is always a top priority. The logistics of the show have been designed in consultation with experts and professionals from the police, fire and emergency services, as well as those specializing in electrical safety, security and traffic management.

Sadly, there are those spreading misinformation, engaging in rhetoric rife with exaggeration and hyperbole, and disparaging the hard work and reputations of Girl Scout volunteers, board members, and staff.

We always look for ways to improve the light show experience for all. In 2014, we opened the show for only 10 days, about one-third of its usual length, and moved to a choose-your-own-time online ticketing system. Traffic management professionals and Suffolk County Police COPE units were onsite every night of the show.

We hope you will support Girl Scouts of Suffolk County in continuing to host its light show at Camp Edey, which has been a Girl Scout property for more than 70 years. With your help, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of thousands of young women.

The misinformation circulating is frustrating. We are busy meeting with local officials to set the record straight.

There are not many holiday light displays on long island and this one in particular is spectacular ! The girls roll down the windows to see the lovely lights as we sing along to the holiday classics ! It was honestly be missed. Hope the tradition can continue !

Please support the GS Holiday Light Show. Our only child, Ellaina just graduated from GS Daisy to Brownie. Her GS "sisters" are the world to her. GS of Suffolk County help to create good citizens, children who care about others and our communities, help fund and support them.

in 2009 my husband proposed to me at this light show. I've gone ever year and now that we are expecting our first child, I really want to be able to make it a family tradition to go every year. Don't take away the light show and the memories it gives to so many families and families to come in the future

Don't let the few that oppose the light show show Ruin it for the the others that do enjoy it. The Girl Scout Light show provides funding for thousands of Long Island kids who are in Girl Scouts. The Girls are important to the Long Island Community and need the funds in order to achieve the good they can do.

Please support this amazing tradition. No only is it a great show, but also, the money raised provides funding for Girl Scout programs that will no longer exist if the show does not continue!!!

Please allow the Girl Scout Light Show to continue! It's a great community event and it supports Girl Scouts- what is more important than that?? I understand it might be inconvenient to those living on the street but surely there is a better solution than canceling the whole event.
