We are petitioning the school to abolish the consequence of “Community Service” at a Kenningtons Primary Academy, Aveley.
We do not agree with the term “Community Service”
We do not agree with the children being made to wear hi-vis jackets nor being made a spectacle of in front of their peers.
We do not agree with children being punished with manual labour and exposure to unhygienic tasks.
We would like a new behaviour strategy put in place that has full backing from parents.

I am currently drafting a formal letter to the school board detailing the specific concerns regarding the use of hi-vis jackets and manual labor tasks. My focus remains on securing a formal meeting with the administration to discuss an alternative behavior strategy that does not involve public shaming.

This amounts to nothing but child abuse it humiliate and be littles the child that is going through it. Considering it is an infant and Junior School The school should be ashamed of them selves and the teachers and HEAD teachers should accountable for their action.
I don't think a 7 yo should come home to any parent stating they have to do community service!! It's actually more like little spaces doing the dinner lady's job. Or the window cleaners Job. It's horrific to be called that too!
stop child labor. children should be in school not be enslaved in prisons. children are people not criminals. prisons are for bullies.

It’s total humiliation. And I’m pretty sure would make a child with or without anger issues angry inside for being humiliated in this way? A new humane way of dealing with bad behaviour needs looking into. Maybe by someone who’s idea isn’t a belittling and bullying punishment??
