They actually listened and decided to keep the cabin and the marker exactly where they belong on the farm. My hands are literally shaking typing this because for a while there I thought they would just bulldoze the whole thing but we really pulled it off together. Keep an eye …

Petition Summary : The undersigned persons hereto agree to urge our elected representatives to work to prevent the destruction of the Historic site which includes the Nancy Hanks Antique Cabin and Historic Memorial and allow public and handicap access thereto. We want the cabin and Memorial Marker to remain on Nancy Hanks Farm where it has been since it was erected in 1933

I was just out by the property again and it is honestly wild to think that anyone could look at these trees and that cabin and think development is the right move. The emails keep piling up in my inbox which is heartening because it feels like people finally realize the history we are losing if we stay quiet. I keep trying to get a straight answer from the local office but they are just giving me the runaround yet again.

I think this cabin needs to remain where it is. I can remember taking a field trip to this cabin when I was in school and I have been there in recent years with my special needs class...these kids get a lot when they can have the hands-on experience of seeing history.

If you tare down everything from back In time we can't show our children they will be looking down in disbelief of what we tell them. The histrionic places is the places we take them to teach them that this is how things were and how things have changed.

I visited the cabin 3 years ago. It was difficult to find as you travel up the small road, but well worth the trip. Please preserve this wonderful treasure of history and keep it available for future generations.
