Dr. Charles Lee director of bands at St.James High is a prolific instructor and director & his presence will always have had a significant effect in our history on the direction the band has progressed to.We all respect the effort and work he has put forth and the progress at which he has pushed the band foward....But in our humble opinion and the opinion of many others we think there is only so much father he can direct the band with his current line of thinking. St.James band went from performing at every home game performing in numerous parades and a Pre Super Bowl performance to not performing at all for some home games and letting visitors band perform for us. With this petition we voice our opinions on the unified voice of removing Dr. Charles Lee as director of bands at SJH. Please take our petition into consideration. .-----Let's continue what the late Mr.Jacob started. ..

Updates

February 17, 2016

The feedback I have received from those connected to the St. James band program confirms that our concerns regarding the current direction of the ensemble are shared by many. I am currently organizing these testimonials to ensure they are presented clearly to the school administration during our upcoming discussions.

The momentum behind this petition reflects a genuine desire to see the St. James band program return to its former standard of excellence. It is clear that many share the concern that a change in leadership is necessary to honor the legacy of this institution.

At a football games, the band do not support or encourage the football team with their music, song, drumbeat or chants when needed. They takes too many breaks for me.

I had issues with this band director since Jamison Lumar was in band--HE did not want any 7 or 8 graders to join because he did not want to "babysit" . I feel to believe that talent can come in any sizes!

Even the auxiliaries are commenting nobody likes how the band is ran. Well you might but 9/10 people want something they can relate to. Roll stepping is something people don't wanna see. A change is needed

Every band works hard but whats the point of going to competitions if you know your gonna do terribly....just setting you up for failure. If you wanna be successful and continue your career with music people are not gonna look at you because your gonna be known as being in the band that sucks. But I'll join your band to make you sound better and hopefully add more quality. You need a reality check and your ears checked.

I found it ridiculous for a football team to travel for a away game and yet the band is not there for motivation. Not to mention an organization should not get last minute information on performances they may have when it comes to other functions. Personal feelings should not be involved when you are hired to do job. You go alot further when you have a open mind and work as a team.
