Petition to Reinstate Sgt. Timothy Brennan

Tim Brennan is an honorable man and a respected police officer. Reinstate him, he's an asset to Hopkinton

Officer Tim goes above and beyond the call of duty in this town. We need more officers like him.

I would like to trust that people who hold positions that call for making decisions that can affect others in profound ways are placed/voted/promoted/hired into these roles because they have not only the necessary training/skills, but are also capable of using sound judgment based on professional experience and personal knowledge, when necessary. This is done in professions every day — by judges, principals, teachers, coaches — and yes, police officers, just to name a few. EVERY DAY, people in those professions make judgement calls, even though laws, policies, and rules are in place. And they don't get terminated for that. They are more likely to get a “thank you.” Reading through the timeline cleared up many things and made me realize that those supporting Brennan’s termination are presenting a picture that he had knowledge of everything being discussed since the victim was 14, and failed to report it. The timeline showed that to be so far from what happened. I don't know what needed to be reported when an adult woman told Brennan they had a consensual relationship with someone he worked with(Porter), that's ended because she’s pregnant with someone else’s child, and Porter told her she was “useless” to him…well, that just sounds like the woman vented to Brennan and wanted him to also see Porter as the bad guy since he knew him, too. This was likely very uncomfortable for Brennan (or anyone!) to hear, but what would warrant “reporting?” Gossiping, maybe, but nothing indicates that even happened (indicates Brennan had discretion for everyone, which is admirable). Once more information was revealed to Brennan by the victim about inappropriate behaviors by Porter that took place 11 years prior, he did the right thing by supporting this adult with the correct procedures. Tim Brennan is an outstanding Police Sergeant and asset to the town. Reinstate him now.

Tim`s wholesome character can easily be discerned within ten minutes, yet he has been placed in limbo for months. End this travesty by choosing justice and re-instating Sgt. Brennan.

Tim is a well respected member of our town and police force. We are firmly behind him.

The Town would be foolish not to reinstate Officer Brennan. This whole ordeal has taken the focus off the real issue and that’s the criminal investigation into John Porter’s actions.

Tim Brennan is one of the very best police sergeants in the state of Massachusetts.

Tim Brennan is a good cop and a better person- he deserves to keep his job serving the town of Hopkinton

I would trust my family's life with Tim Brennan. He is one of the finest Police Officers we have ever known. I applaud Tim's decisions in this case - knowing that he keeps his word is a commendable trait. He's honest to the core - Hopkinton needs more people like Tim to watch over us.

Tim Brennan did what he needed to do to protect the victim. If I were in the victim's shoes I would be thankful to have Tim Brennan on my side.

Please return Sgt. Tim Brennan his position.
