We, the undersigned campers, counselors, and staff, respectfully request the reconsideration of Jess Menga for a camp counselor position this summer.
Jess was an outstanding counselor last year, bringing dedication, compassion, and enthusiasm that greatly enriched the camp experience for both campers and fellow staff members. Her ability to assist those with higher needs, foster meaningful connections, and contribute to the supportive and inclusive environment that defines our camp made a lasting impact.
Many of us were looking forward to working with Jess again and believe her absence would be a loss to the community. We understand that there were many applicants this year, but given Jess’s proven commitment and success in this role, we sincerely hope there is a way for her to be included in this summer’s program.

I have been reviewing the testimonials shared in the comments section and remain moved by the consistency of these positive experiences. These accounts are currently being compiled into a formal document for the leadership team at Camp Footprint. I will provide information regarding the next steps once we receive a definitive response from the administration.

The momentum behind this petition reflects the genuine impact Jess Menga has had on our community. It is clear that many people value her contributions to Camp Footprint and recognize the importance of her return.

Jessica Mega is somebody who fosters a caring energy with all of the people that she meets. She talks about her past time with your camp in high regards! She found community with your help, and I’m sure you have plenty of campers who would hate to see her go. Jess is honest, caring and brings joy to any room that she walks into. Please make her a spot if you can.
As a student mentor, camp counselor, and employee that serves children with disabilities, I can see the energy and spark that Jess brings to others. As a grown woman, it’s a spark I anticipate and look forward to. Our friendship is budding, but it’s so important to me as I’ve been navigating single life. It sounds like many children and staff at Camp Footprint are expecting her spark to be there. Before this petition came up, she spoke of the camp to me and my friends, trying to get the word out for more young men to mentor. She cares dearly for Camp Footprint and I hope she can return for the campers and staffers that experienced her as an integral part of it.
I was a counselor with Jess at Camp Footprint west last year and have nothing but positive things to say about her. She was always attentive to the kids and counselors alike, putting everyone else’s needs above hers. As someone who suffers from CMT, Jess took extra steps to help me out with my campers, especially when it came to things that required heavy lifting or a more able body. She also never minded helping with the little things. Something as simple as opening a water bottle or holding open a door, Jess never hesitated to help. She also had a way of cheering up campers and us counselors when things got really challenging. She was amazing at talking to the campers when they were in emotional distress and offered an ear to listen and solutions where she could find them. She may not have CMT, but she is an honorary member of the CMT community and deserves to be at camp as much as we deserve her as a counselor. I really hope she gets a shot at coming back to camp this year because she’s an extremely valuable asset to camp and our community, as well as just an amazing human being I am so happy to know. I hope a position opens up for her this year.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t want someone as chill and wise to be apart of the camp family

Jess is an outstanding human and a wonderful roll model for any human and child to look up to. In my humble opinion, not having Jessica back as a counselor is a missed opportunity for the kids and staff alike. I would heavily reconsider this choice.
