As Squash playing members of the Peak Fitness Center in Missoula we would like to request that Squash Court #6 be reopened for the purposes of playing squash.

There are many times each week where there are too many players for the number of courts available. This limits the potential participation and growth of squash as a sport. It further limits the ability to for the Peak to host Squash Tournaments, larger group lessons, and other squash activities involving more than 4-6 individuals. By reopening this squash court it would allow 3 concurrent games to take place supporting 6-9 squash players on a court at a time, it would allow the facilitation of a regular squash events and leagues, and many other growth benefits for the sport.

Currently Squash Court #6 is being utilized as a training room which is rarely if ever utilized. We would reasonably expect that if this court was repurposed back into a squash court that it would get significantly more use than as its current function, especially during the late-fall through early spring season when the sport significantly balloons.

As an additional consideration, a notable number of squash players are Peak members primarily for the purposes of playing squash. Currently there is a general feeling of frustration amongst many during peak squash hours due to limited court space, and by opening up additional space it would provide significant relief of these frustrations. It would be meaningful to help support and nurture this community so it can continue to grow and prosper.
