Petition to Oppose 7-Eleven and Gas Station at the Entrance to Del Webb Minneola

No gas station should be built outside the gates and near the homes of residence! We moved here because of the beautiful surroundings. Don’t ruin it like every other area is doing!!! Bad idea!

I live in the Del Webb community. A gas station at the corner of N. Hancock and CR561 is completely inappropriate. It would invite heavy traffic and crime. Please do not approve this proposal.

Not necessary to add more gas pumps as the Circle K and Sam’s/Walmart will have pumps as well. Not safe for Del Webb and new communities coming. Strongly oppose this!

A gas station would bring increased traffic, noise, and safety concerns. It would also pose environmental risks such as fuel spills.

I believe this gas station isn't needed, will propose a safety threat, will lower the cost of nearby property, and will at some point leak into neary water wells.

I oppose 7-Eleven and gas station at the entrance to Del Webb Minneola due to health hazard risks, excessive traffic and crime increase created by these types of businesses in residential areas.

No gas station is needed nor a w4/7 store at this location. Plenty of room near the Walmart and Crooked Can locations nearer to the FTP.

We strongly oppose the proposed 7-Eleven and gas station at our neighborhood entrance. Our community was built and invested in as a safe, residential enclave, not a commercial corridor. This project would bring heavy traffic onto already narrow roads, erode property values, invite crime, and permanently alter the character of our homes. Granting a variance for a gas station here would not only endanger families but also set a precedent that no residential area is safe from incompatible development. We urge the City Commission to protect our neighborhood and reject this proposal

The intersection that serves this area is already highly inadequate. Especially, with the pending northward expansion of Hancock Road, bringing in even more traffic and the hundreds of homes in the Sugarloaf Mountain area. The City of Minneola should plan ahead and take care of the infrastructure and roads first before considering such projects.

This 24/7 hour 711 gas station is a hazardous structure at the entrance to a senior community. It’s use of our access road at all hours of the day and night where seniors have to drive, gas lines and gas pumps are dangerous odorous. The traffic and confusion it will cause will cause many accidents as the roads are not wide enough any easy access. The structure is obstrusive and hazardous to our senior community in EVERY way!

The traffic issues would be very cumbersome for cars and especially for longer vehicles and emergency vehicles.

We have had experience where a closed 7 eleven and left an empty eye sore. Face it, 7 elevens do not do well in neighborhood settings but do OK when they are on a busy highway. 7-Eleven former CEO, James W. Keyes, commented on the early 2025 potential sale of 7 Eleven, stating that "he would be watching to see how the company rebounds." "He also suggested that a deal with another major gas company would be a natural evolution of the brand." This company is trying to change and hopes to sell. Any agreement wouldnt stand as you will be either following the new company demands or have an empty gas station as an eye sore. Things are not right here and hope the city council does their research on this company. The city council should look at Mr. Keyes further comments about the change needed and is skeptical - especially about the plan to grow the food service innovation as it is complex. Not a good fit. Take it from a person who came from a state where 7 elevens no longer exist but the left over eye sores do. Another point - once a gas station exists or is built look at the EPA rules to turn the property in to something else like a coffee shop or small cafe. Very Expensive for anyone to handle or take on. A gas station, especially a 7 Eleven is too big a risk. Haven't been in Minneola long and like it a lot but lets see how good the council does its research. Last meeting I was impressed with the common sense of the former mayor. He didn't say don't do it but did say that the City Council is not afraid to step up to the plate. Hope the City council shares the former mayor's love for this city and its occupants, You have a hard task but voting No to 7-eleven would not be a mistake. A gas station in a residential area is not good fit at all.

This letter expresses strong opposition to the proposed development of a 7-Eleven or Circle K around or in proximity to the entrance to the Dell Webb community. This type of establishment is inappropriate for this location. A convenience store operating 24/7 could disrupt the peace and quiet enjoyed by residents. Additional traffic, especially late at night, could create safety concerns and negatively impact the residential nature of the neighborhood. There is also a serious concern for increased crime rates associated with these establishments, as studies show a correlation between the density of such outlets and crime rates. Such a development would diminish the aesthetic appeal of the community. A large, brightly lit convenience store with signage and parking lots does not align with the character the Dell Webb Minneola community strives to maintain. The detrimental effects of this proposal on the community's well-being and property values should be considered. Studies have shown a negative correlation between proximity to convenience stores and residential property values. Thank you for your time and consideration. The wishes of the residents and the long-term well-being of the community should be prioritized when making a decision on this matter. This is a bad location for a gas station and it woud be more suited to being right off of the interstate-not at the front of a neighborhood.

Please vote NO on gas station.

This business would be a hardship for all the homeowners and others who live in and around the Del Webb Community. There is already to much traffic in our area with the increase of homes, schools, and businesses. Also there are large trucks that has taken a detour to our area along with construction
