PETITION TO OPPOSE CURRENT 212 STUART STREET PLAN

Please extend the public comment period on 212 Stuart Street an additional 90 days. I am opposed to this project because it is located with in the Historic District and violates zoning height by 135 feet(469%). This project will destroy the historic character of Bay Village. It will set a precedent within the historic districts.

I am strongly opposed. There are enough places in the City where high rises can be built. I live in the back bay and you can see the effects of a few buildings that stand out like a sore thumb because of their height amongst all the other historic buildings

The petition summarizes the reasons for my objection to the proposed 199 ft. tower. The building will dwarf the historic townhome buildings that predominantly populate Bay Village. Previous improvements to the subject parcel were 3-4 stories and my understanding is the current zoning is 35 to 65 feet. Taller buildings outside the Bay Village neighborhood footprint (the circa 1920s Boston Gas building and circa 1970s Revere Hotel) do not have the impact of blocking air and light to historic townhomes inside the Village and sit on busy street corners (outside the neighborhood footprint), Arlington and South Charles, respectively. If you look at the project rendering from the perspective of Statler Park (a prime example of public/private partnership that has beautified the City) Bay Village is completely covered by a wall of glass. While recognizing that development has many positive consequences to the City, I'm not supportive of this proposal unless the project team is willing to reduce the height of the building to a reasonable compromise from the current zoning.

This is not anti-growth, but common sense. Save the neighborhoods, save the parks, save the history, Encourage rational urban development Without ruining Boston's uniquely markeable personality. Why would we want to be any mundane city when we already have a personality to work with?

I oppose this building - it offers nothing - NO BENEFITS- to Bay Village. The owners will charge $4000 monthly rents x 133 units =$6.4 million in rent revenue a year (hypothetical but not way off) while Bay Village will get more traffic, trash, wind tunnel, no sun, no sky, more dog poop on our sidewalks. Talk about a wall - the building is a 199 foot WALL that blocks Bay Village from sunlight while the residents of this monstrosity will enjoy sunlight stolen from Bay Village!

Its important to preserve and keep the spirit of Boston's history ALIVE !!!!!!!!!!! Not all things can be bought with money !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and those who do not respect others will find themselves paying for their actions !!

This minolyth of grotesque proportion will: completely 'turn off' the only direct sun to South Cove (west) 230 Stuart handicapped and elderly, endanger us with hurricane winds, create danger mouse levels of noise, vermin & pests, obliterate the historical scale and beauty of our famous inclusive neighborhood and more. Every aspect of this solely $$$$ development creates danger, in addition to horrid conditions it promises to destroy safety & already eroding quality of life for us, those with little chance to relocate due to our needed accommodations.

I strongly oppose this project. It does not belong in Bay Village.

I am a Bay Village resident and oppose the proposed building at 212 Stuart St.

This building, in height and design, is entirely out of keeping with the historic neighborhood of Bay Village, within whose limits it would stand, and whose height limits it would violate.
