Hi all! I have been networking with many AU students for the past month and a lot of them have already chosen roommates, however, I have noticed that AU is no longer allowing that. I understand how important roommate selection can be for many people, so I made this in hopes to sway AU's decision.

I really belive that we should have the right to pick our own roommates because many of us are coming from places outside of DC, Maryland, and Virginia. We want to make sure we have someone who we know will help us adjust better. I already had a roommate that I wanted coming into this and I hope this petition sways your decision. Thank you
The idea of starting college is both exciting and nerve wracking. to go into it with someone you've had the chance to know and meet will make it less scary. please let us choose our roommates
I'm an incoming student and would love to choose my roomate, specially since there are groups made for finding roomates.
This is ridiculous. I believe that students should have the right to choose roommates for three reasons 1. For the people that struggle with making connections with certain groups of people this is a way for them to feel safe and secure. 2. It is best to talk with someone before you room with them to make sure it is a good match 3. People are not always entirely truthful about what they like at first. But after getting to know the person, you decide whether or not it would be a good match.
The transition into a new environment can be rough. It seems only fair, if not necessary, to allow students the option to pick the individual they live with to make that transition a little easier to manage.

It'd really be disappointing to be assigned to someone just because it looks good on the paper, a true waste of my $61k. :/
