In light of recent events in our country, many students have gathered together in protest at night, filling the streets of Richmond and making quite a noise. While we recognize and support everyone's right to gather in peaceful protest, their proximity to the residence buildings is making students feel uncomfortable and unsafe in their own homes. The noise coming from these crowds is disrupting studies and other student activities and extends late into the night, keeping students from sleeping on school nights. We would like to file this petition to ask the Administration and Campus Security of VCU to consider enforcing a buffer zone between loud, mass protests and residence buildings.
I have an 8am exam and havent gotten more than 4 hours of sleep all week because of the screaming outside my window. its ridiculous that we cant even study in our own dorms.
