I was flabbergasted when I heard the news. You know how there are some things you don't mess with? This is one of them.

marvel are ruining the history of the marvel universe at an alarmingly fast rate for what just to attract new readers and sweep away your old readership the avengers film was crap nothing like the original line up,the cartoon is bad enough sam wilson given his falcon identity by tony stark when he was steve rogers close friend now female thor and avengers now keep it up and I quit reading.will stick to past issues.

Well .... Marvel has already lost me as a fan based on what they did with the Wolverine storyline. However, even if I will no longer be purchasing the cr@p your company puts out, it pains me to know that you are also destroying Thor - another storyline I have been a fan of for years. Your current crop of writers really is awful.

stop messing with this character, find another one to ruin their comic, we where having a great run with god of thunder until you marvel decided to ruin it with your stupid stunt to gather the atention of people who dont even care about comics, other than to go with the hypes of the movies

I don't care if you made a new Thor male of female. You don't change the character period! Decades of history with title and you can't maintain a decent storyline. Between the death of Wolverine (what an abortion of writing that was!!!!!) and this, you have lost me as a fan! I hope everyone involved in this decision (along with the death of Wolverine and the whole acompanying storyline) loses their jobs and never gets work in the industry again. You guys disgust me.

This is a female (AND FEMINIST) fan of Thor Odinson. I only came across Marvel's movies and comics this year, and I found this change that Marvel has made disrespectful to both the character (Thor Odinson) and his fans. 1) It seems to me that the change is announced so suddenly and in a rather irresponsible manner. (We all know Thor was his birth name - who are you trying to fool?) 2) Many people has made this point, but I will bring it up again: I'm being 100% supportive with strong heroines / gender equality etc, as I said I am a feminist. But I can't accept a well-established, beloved character simply lost his power (flying etc) along with his weapon and his name "PERMANENTLY". I will be EQUALLY AS MAD if Thor Odinson lost these things to a man instead. Can't you promote another female superhero? Analogy: your favourite band replaced one of its important member with a random person, only because they wanted the attention / new audiences / good name of promoting female roles etc - this is what marvel makes me feel. Also I just wanted to say, seeing Thor being so upset and weak (and had a hand chopped off) really upsets me and many other his fans (I believe) as well. I would rather believe this is a stage that Thor Odinson is going through, and he will come back with his hammer hopefully ASAP. P.s. No offence to other characters like Sam Wilson, but with Logan dying and Steve Rogers ageing at the same time as Thor was being replaced, Marvel is really losing me as a fan. Perhaps it's a bit inconsiderate to replace so many superheroes at once? p.p.s I would really love to see a series of movies based on Journey of Mystery (kid Loki)

I don't mind seeing a woman take over Thor's role as god of thunder and wielder of the magic hammer for awhile, but I think its as bad an idea to make it a permanent switch as it is to give her Thor's name. And she doesn't have to be Thor-Woman or She-Thor or whatever either. She could be whatever her name is as the new Thunder Goddess.

also its not like they are cutting thors dick off and calling him a chick hes no longer deemed worthy to lift the hammer so a new wielder must be found and GUESS WHAT!?!?! its gonna be ms marvel herself carol danvers because shes getting replaced with a new ms marvel. no one had a problem when captain marvel was replaced with a chick so why should it matter if thor gets temporarily replaced by a chick as the wielder of mjolnir. also thors still thor he just wields his old ax now instead of his hammer

your assuming that disney had anything to do with it in the first place. disneys just the parent company marvel still leaves the stories to the writers so dont blame some big faceless corporation because you cant understand that its just a comic book character it doesnt change anything related to norse mythology and if all someone knows of norse culture is what they read in a comic then who cares really? its just lines on paper its not real dude get over it

I am one subscriber that they will lose if Thor is changed to a woman and being that I only buy Thor, they will lose me completely. I don’t buy the Avengers because Thor is disrespected in the Avenger stories.

I've just bought Marvel's The Art of Thor: The Dark World today, Wow! the artwork and photographs are fantastic. This convinces me even more that Marvel must keep Thor the male thunder god, and that it should undertake a project to recreate the stories from the ''Penguin Book of Norse Myths: Gods of the Vikings'' and ''The Prose Edda: Norse Mythology Penguin Classics'' with artists like Andy Park, Jackson Sze, Bryan Andrews, Jane Wu and Rick Newsome along with Wendy Partridge, Kramer Morgenthau, Charlie Wen et al. It would truly be a work of art and become a classic for posterity. All those who agree with me that this is a graphic novel project that Marvel Comics must undertake please sign the petition to keep Thor the Nordic god of thunder a man.
