We, the undersigned, being graduating seniors of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, hereby petition the School of Biological Sciences to open up more lab sections and increase the class size for Bio Sci D170 Applied Human Anatomy. This course is in extremely high demand and restricted to students in the School of Biological Sciences only until March 19th. However, Human Anatomy is a prerequisite for many pharmacy schools, and as pre-pharmacy students, matriculation into our respective Pharm. D. programs is contingent upon our completion of this course by the end of Spring 2020. For those of us that have been accepted into a pharmacy program, our admissions will be rescinded if we fail to complete this course by June.

We want to bring this situation to your attention because it is unfair that we have to suffer the potential consequences including but not limited to: losing our admission and enrollment deposits of up to $1000, being forced into taking a gap year, and paying extra tuition to take this class during the summer, for something that is entirely out of our control. The price is costly. Not only do we lose time, but it will cause immense mental stress as well as financial burden. And it can all be avoided if only the School can make the appropriate changes to meet the demand of students who are in need of this class.

We implore you to take action to resolve this situation promptly because a school and its administration’s priority is to ensure the success of its students.

Thank you.
