As taxpayers of Fernie and surounding areas we respectfully request that city council first of all identifies all costs involved to build the proposed community/ Recreation Center and all actual grants to assist with this proposal and also the cost per household regarding property taxes and then puts the proposal to an area wide referendum before proceeding.
Council continues to dodge questions about the total tax burden this project puts on our households. Send an email to your local representative today and demand they provide a full cost breakdown before moving forward with any construction plans.

The scale of this response shows that people demand full transparency on the costs of this recreation project. Now is the time to turn this pressure into action by emailing your city council representative to demand a public referendum.

After fixing the arena and having a really nice pool I don't see the need for such an expensive project

I would vote against it. We already have a swimming facility and an arena which had a new roof put on. I do not think the people of Fernie should be made to pay more taxes than they do already to build something we already have. Total waste of money!

We definitely need a referendum for such a big project for such a small town. Taxes are high enough and still rising! All people should have a say.

On no account should a project of this size go ahead without consulting the community. I will be challenging the city council on this matter at the next scheduled meeting on February 25th. Join me.

This must go to a Referendum so that we, the Taxpayers, have a "say" in this very expensive decision being "foisted" upon us!
