The scale of this response shows that people demand full transparency on the costs of this recreation project. Now is the time to turn this pressure into action by emailing your city council representative to demand a public referendum.

I would vote against it. We already have a swimming facility and an arena which had a new roof put on. I do not think the people of Fernie should be made to pay more taxes than they do already to build something we already have. Total waste of money!
We definitely need a referendum for such a big project for such a small town. Taxes are high enough and still rising! All people should have a say.
On no account should a project of this size go ahead without consulting the community. I will be challenging the city council on this matter at the next scheduled meeting on February 25th. Join me.
This must go to a Referendum so that we, the Taxpayers, have a "say" in this very expensive decision being "foisted" upon us!
The public needs more costs information before a go ahead on thus big of a financial responsibility
We just put money into the existing rink,we dont need a new one for awhile!!
I’m against a new rec centre bc we just fixed the old one!

After fixing the arena and having a really nice pool I don't see the need for such an expensive project
