Petition to Enshrine Ralph Bruening in the Diocese of Cleveland CYO Hall of Fame
The following signers of this petition wish to nominate Ralph Bruening to be enshrined in the Diocese of Cleveland CYO Hall of Fame. Ralph has made significant contributions to the CYO as a track and Cross Country coach. During his 50 plus years of volunteer service his dedication and commitment are unparalleled. Ralph is an icon in the CYO track community, he has coached and mentored thousands of CYO athletes and all are proud to say…I ran for Ralph!

I am still reading through the wonderful memories people are leaving in the comments about their time on the track. It is truly humbling to see how many lives Ralph has touched over these five decades. All of this momentum is entirely due to the stories you keep sharing.

Seeing the momentum behind this has been truly overwhelming for me. It is clear that Ralph has left a mark on so many people and I am just happy to provide a place for everyone to show that.

We won 3 CYO city championships at St. Anns in the 70's with Ralph as our coach. He could make you believe that you could do anything.
My son ran for Ralph in the 1980's, he was one great coach and inspiration to all the athletes he coached. I still remember our trip to Kansas City to compete.in the Nationals. My son now has his children running track and Cross Country. Thanks, Ralph for all you have done.
Ralph has cared for the kids of the track and XC teams he's coached as if they were his own kids. Imagine....50 years worth of kids have passed through. Not everyone is a track/XC star, but they all are better for having run.
Our kids have been running with Ralph in both cross country and track for the last 5 years. I've never met a coach who knew more or related better to the kids. He may yell at times but there's no coach that has the kids best interest in mind than he does.
Ralph became more than a cross country and track coach for my kids. Over the years he became a good friend that you could discuss anything with. When our last son moved on to high school, we had an empty feeling knowing our time with him would be cut short. He always had the kids interest at the center of everything. His nomination is long-overdue.
Significant impact in my youth and sport development.
Ralph made me the the person I am today thru CYO track. I am indebted to him.

Ralph was my CC and track coach at Beaumont, the first sports I ever participated in. He taught me about fitness, competition, camaraderie, and leadership as he brought his CYO girls up to the high school level. I grew in confidence, ability, and understanding of fitness.
