Good enough to work, good enough to stay! Good enough to raise other people's children, good enough to raise their own!

Canada must ratify ILO Convention 189. Decent work for Domestic Workers. Passed in 2011 by ILO Conference.

Immigration is a moral issue. Too often, governments make it an economic issue (let's attract trained specialists from poor countries) or a financial one (do the applicants have health or other problems that would generate costs in Canada).

Seems less likely that a 2016 commitment to reduce by 80% the the Permanent Residence Backlog of caregiver applications (many waiting 5 years or longer). How will the government expediently begin to address the backlog?

Most earlier immigrants to Canada did not have a beaurocraticly imposed delay on bringing family. The temporary foreign workers program has been unfair from the start. Those in the system already should be enabled to bring family. The program should be for people who want to come. It should not be temporary.

Foreign caregivers are in Canada to help Canadians have greater well-being in their lives. Canada has given them a valuable opportunity, but it also comes at great personal cost to them. Dealing fairly and justly with these workers is the right and Canadian thing to do. I urge you to act.

I know several faithful caregivers through my church who are being told it will be another two or three years before their children will be able to loin them in Canada. This is cruel and unusual punishment to these mothers who are doing compassionate caregiving for our elderly folk - work that Canadians will not do. We must do better!

We are very fortunate to have the caregivers come to Canada to serve in role very vital to the well being of seniors. Please give them permanent residency status. We need many more as we seniors grow in numbers.

We must as a nation address these matters more efficiently for the sake of those who wait. We can do better.

We need to give this the attention it needs and prioritize the concerns raised.

If caregivers who look after the children of Canadians or the elderly are good enough for that responsibility, they should qualify for permanent resident status.

Canada uses the work of these caregivers to look after our sick, disabled and elderly therefore we should reciprocate by granting PR status in a timely manner. We need to stop taking advantage of these workers.
