Hi there Fellow Friars,
My name is Carol Scibelli and I'm running for the Board of Governors. Actually, if I get 125 signatures, then I can run. Remember when we had elections? Well, hopefully we will again!
I love the Friars Club as I know you do. I love the feeling I get when I walk through the front doors. The doors are heavy and hard to manage, but it's always a victory when I make it to the reception desk! It's good to have goals. The club's feeling of home never gets old, certainly not as old as many of our members!
I joined the Friars Club in 1998. I was on the Softball Team for about 5 years, (once I got to first base) I serve on the House Committee now and have been the Chairperson of the Meet Your Fellow Friars Committee for many years. My terrific commitee plans and hosts dinners to help friars become aquainted with each other. The idea, of course, is that the more members we know and like the more comfortable we will be and we'll enjoy the club more.
I've been a humor writer all my life, working with comics, writing funny personal essays, speaking and blogging. I published my memoir "Poor Widow Me" a few years after my husband's death in 2006.
I have a grown son and daughter (but are they ever really?) and three fun-loving granddaughters. I live in Manhattan with my boyfriend, Mickey and the sweetest Morkie in the world...Tony Baloney
I am all about fun, fairness and transparency. If you honor me with a click of a vote here I promise you that I will do everything in my power to help bring back all that we love about our club.
Thank you and if you see me at the club, come on over and say, "Carol, I love your hair!" (and I will say the same to you) I'm a sucker for a hair compliment. Aren't we all?
Friarly,
Carol Scibelli
