This is absolutely devastating news! Father Yuriy has been a tremendous blessing to the community. He has played a deeply meaningful role in my family’s spiritual life. He baptized my son, a moment I will always cherish. I am currently pregnant, and it is my sincere hope that he will also be able to baptize my daughter when the time comes. That continuity of spiritual guidance means so much to me and my family His sermons have been inspiring and grounded in truth, his leadership has brought spiritual growth and unity, and his compassion and commitment to our members have been evident in countless ways. We kindly urge the church to reconsider the decision and allow Father Yuriy to continue leading us.

I note that to date more than 160 persons have signed this petition. It is obvious that the decision to not renew Father Yuri's contract was taken by, perhaps a handful of individuals - and not the whole Ukrainian Orthodox community in Brisbane. It is also self-evident that Father Yuri is a priest for the WHOLE Ukrainian Orthodox community - and it should have a say in his future, particularly if he wishes to remain the spiritual shepherd of this flock. Problems and issues can always be worked out in the spirit of God's grace and in His divine will. Consequently, I also add my signature to this petition so that constructive dialogue can take place - and so that the Ukrainian Orthodox community in Brisbane is not left without spiritual guidance, the blessed sacraments, and the healing love of Christ which can only come through loving and dedicated ministry of an ordained priest. May God's will be done!

It was a difficult day for the parishioners at the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Brisbane and for the broader Ukrainian community in Queensland overall, including people from different confessions when we learnt about Father Yuriy Fediv's contract would not be renewed. It saddened many people not only in the church, but across the state of Queensland. I am joining many parishioners and members of the ukrainian community to respectfully appeal for the extension of Fr Yuriy Fediv’s contract. Since his arrival, Fr Yuriy has served our parish with extraordinary dedication, humility and care. His spiritual leadership, compassionate presence, and deep commitment to people have greatly strengthened our community. Fr Yuriy has been instrumental in revitalizing parish life, fostering unity among parishioners, and providing comfort and guidance to those in need. It's has been invaluable, especially in such dark times for Ukraine when we need to be united. During his 2 years service, Fr Yuriy ignited many souls and hearts. Fr Yuriy’s and his family tireless efforts have not only nourished the spiritual lives of our members but have also supported our cultural heritage, language, and identity. Fr Yuriy intitiated and lead numerous of fundraising events to support Ukraine to defend its freedom and sovereignty. Fr Yuriy presence is a blessing. We believe that his continued service is essential to the ongoing growth and vitality of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Brisbane and our Ukrainian community as whole. It will be a huge loss not having Fr Yuriy, as well as it will have a profound emotional and spiritual damage to the parishioners and the Ukrainian community members in Queensland. We respectfully ask to consider extending Fr Yuriy Fediv’s contract so that he may continue his invaluable work among us, for us and for Ukraine. Thank you for your attention to this sincere request.
