Its 2016. And absurd to completely ignore a higher, international standard.

It is amazing that rope access hasn't been accepted yet. Every other province is on board.

Ontario needs to have a section added to the Ontario OH&S Regulations much like the Alberta OH&S, Part 41 - Work Requiring Industrial Rope Access. Nova Scotia and BC have both implemented a similar regulation: BC - Part 34: Rope Access NS - Part 22: Work Requiring Rope Access. With the requirement for Rope Access ever increasing and the number of Companies claiming to be qualified to provide Industrial Rope Access to Clients within Ontario, the exposure to risk is enormous. Ontario needs to implement a section in the OH&S Regulations to regulate Industrial Rope Access. Yonni Wall Managing Director Global Ascent Inc. A Division of Team Industrial Services.

People need to be aware of the level of expertise required to do this safely.

Time to catch up with modern work at height methods used elsewhere in Canada. Come on MOL....do your job, be proactive instead of reactive.

As one of the first IRATA/SRAT L3's in Ontario, I can't say what a problem its been getting the MOL to recognize Rope Access. Even after providing MOL with IRATA white papers, and a practical rope access demonstration, they still refuse to adopt the safer work methodology. This will continue to be an uphill battle, but I encourage everyone to participate and get this legislation changed for the better.
