Currently Industrial Rope Access is not covered under Ontario OH&S regulations. The goal of this petition is to have the Ontario Ministry of Labour and Safe At Work Ontario expressly recognize and regulate SPRAT and IRATA Rope Access in the province of Ontario.

I have been busy reaching out to industry contacts to explain why these safety protocols are so necessary. It is honestly overwhelming to see so many of you backing this cause when I first started this as just a simple idea.

As a Rope Access Technician working in Canada I believe Ontario needs to accept and regulate rope access to both protect workers and allow for the use of this safe and efficient means of access.
I've tried talking to the ministry on multiple occasions about the safety and effeciency factors of rope access over other methods. It's always seemed to land on def ears. I've since moved west due to the fact but perhaps you can make a difference. Good luck.
I would love to work as a rope technician in my home province of Ontario, however current OH & S regulations have forced me to western Canada for work.
Time to come out of the 80's and update your regulations for more than just Window Washers at height.
Sprat and Irata is the new fall protection training, and recognized by other provinces. Nothing to prove anymore, use established framework and get it done.

As one of the first IRATA/SRAT L3's in Ontario, I can't say what a problem its been getting the MOL to recognize Rope Access. Even after providing MOL with IRATA white papers, and a practical rope access demonstration, they still refuse to adopt the safer work methodology. This will continue to be an uphill battle, but I encourage everyone to participate and get this legislation changed for the better.
