for the past five months, nigerian students have been subjected to a halt in their academic progress and this has been a very unpalatable experience. in the wake of this strike, there has been an astronomical increase in the spate of social vices among young people and infact boys are being compelled into marriage after impregnating girls who have now become expectant mothers. of course asuu is not to be solely blamed for this but like they say "the idle mind is the devil's workshop". if all these could happen in five months it begs the question of what would happen in six months, twelve, twenty-four or even thirty six months. this is not an exagerration because the definition of the term "indefinite" being employed by asuu is quite known to us all.

we are very well aware of the loss the union has just suffered and we are deeply sympathetic and pray that the soul of the deceased icon rests in peace but it is quite counter productive at this time to continue to allow students waste away at home. it is to this end we are appealing that the union should in the interest of undergraduates, prospective undergraduates, parents, business men and women who make a living off commercial activities in the schools and all other stakeholders that this strike should be brought to an end.
