To: The Principal, The Finance Department, and The School Administration
From: The Students of Eugene Dupuch Law School
Date: 18th September 2025

We, the undersigned students, are writing to express our deep concern and strong opposition to the new policy requiring us to pay out-of-pocket for essential course guides for the 2025-2026 academic year.

This change represents a significant and unfair financial burden and a departure from established practice. For clarity, our concerns are as follows:

Breach of Understandable Expectation: It has been our understanding, based on previous years, that the cost of compulsory course materials—including course guides—was covered under the comprehensive "Course Materials" fee itemized in our tuition statements. We budgeted for our education based on this clear and consistent precedent. This new, unexpected cost was not communicated prior to our enrollment and commitment to this academic year.
Lack of Transparency: The explanation provided—that this charge was not included in our fee last year—is insufficient. It fails to clarify how these essential materials were previously funded if not through our fees, and more importantly, it does not justify why the financial responsibility is now being abruptly transferred to students.
Double Payment Concern: We are now being asked to pay for an essential academic resource twice: once through the existing fee structure that historically covered it, and a second time directly out of pocket. This is unacceptable.
Our Request:

We respectfully petition the administration to:

Immediately reverse the decision to charge students directly for compulsory course guides for the current academic year.
Honor the previous fee structure that students reasonably expected when they enrolled, ensuring these guides are provided without additional direct cost.
Provide full transparency regarding the allocation of the "Course Materials" fee and a clear, detailed explanation for any future changes to fee structures well in advance of enrollment periods.
We value our education and our relationship with the institution. However, we believe this policy is inequitable and sets a concerning precedent. We seek a prompt resolution to this matter and are prepared to discuss this further to find a fair solution.

We look forward to your positive response.

Sincerely,

Eugene Dupuch Law School Students
