Petition Opposing the Oakwood Lane Subdivision Development

Keep green space. Cannot afford the increase in traffic

After reviewing the proposed Oakwood Lane Subdivision, I have serious concerns regarding its suitability for our community. Oakwood Lane is already a narrow, burdened roadway, and even a modest increase in daily traffic would create significant congestion and safety hazards. A development of the proposed scale, potentially adding over 120 additional vehicles, would exacerbate these issues to an unacceptable degree. Beyond traffic concerns, the project appears to prioritize short-term financial gain over the long-term well-being of Schuylkill Township residents. The impact on property values, strain on local infrastructure, and disruption of the natural environment—particularly the loss of wildlife habitat—would meaningfully and permanently alter the character of our neighborhood. Many of us chose to live on the mountain specifically for its open space, quiet, and natural surroundings; this development conflicts directly with those values. IF the Township were to approve a proposal that so clearly disregards documented community concerns, residents may also be left with no choice but to explore available legal remedies. This is not a path anyone wishes to pursue, but the cumulative issues presented by this subdivision—traffic, environmental disruption, infrastructure strain, and negative impacts on property values raise legitimate questions about the adequacy and fairness of the review process. No homeowner should bear the financial consequences of a decision that diminishes property values, and many of us would be forced to reconsider remaining in the neighborhood. Our hope is that such measures will not be necessary, and that the Township will prioritize the well-being of its residents by denying the project in its current form.

Oakwood Lane is a very winding and blind hills. This is rural area and shouldn't be crammed with a mass of homes on steep mountain site.

Our infrastructure cannot handle more building, we are over Chester County's largest watershed and flooding is a real issue. There is no room for runoff. My property has gone from a 100 year flood plain to a 50 year flood plain due to overdevelopment in Schuylkill Township.

Traffic is already very dense! We don’t need more homes!

Schuylkill Township needs open land not more houses.

As a resident of Oakwood Lane I oppose the Oakwood Lane Subdivision development for the same reasons expressed by my neighbors, specifically: that the unique topography of the mountain prevents any significant upgrade to the already strained narrow roads or the provision of sewer/water service to many properties, safety and quality of life concerns due to increased traffic on the narrow roads and limited exit points off the mountain, the lack of infrastructure to prevent erosion from stormwater run-off (which currently runs through our yard and our neighbors' yards into the proposed development site and will be worsened by the reduction of permeable land), and damage to the environment, wildlife and character of Valley Forge.

Is there no corner of Phoenixville that won't get overdeveloped? I am strongly opposed to this plan.

We totally oppose this proposed development. In addition to traffic congestion on our winding roads and runoff causing erosion, we already have a serious deer population explosion that makes driving increasingly dangerous. This will limit their territory further and force them to cross more roads to forage, where they will completely decimate the forest understory. We have lived in Valley Forge Woods for nearly 30 years. Schuylkill Township should continue the success it has had with protecting Open Lands by obtaining and preserving this acreage or allow NatLands or Open Lands to do so. We do not need more tightly packed suburban homesites.

This is a terrible idea for our neighborhood. It will have a huge negative impact on our open space and increase the traffic situation which is already a problem.

Soning regulations are there for a reason. Stick to the current regulations.
