Petition for Vote of No Confidence in Royal College of Physicians Leadership

The Royal college inappropriately justify continuing the PA role out based upon financial implications for PA’s , if the role is suddenly halted pending further enquiry of relevant risk to patient safety. The Royal college justification is inadequate.! Financial implications could be managed by the RCA while PA role is temporarily halted to prevent further harm to patients. This would be the correct and reasonable approach to deal with the matter, rather than disregard the obvious. The RCA was previously informed that employers were abusing the PA role by substituting it with the same role of a doctor. This is criminal and immoral. Despite the RCP being made aware that the good nature of PA’s dedication was being exploited for the purpose of doctor substitution they have blatantly disregarded the facts opposing their moral and ethical duty towards members of the public ( patients) and being unsupportive of the medical profession in which it intentionally and originally set out to respect and represent. These acts of betrayal have created sincere mistrust among the profession and the wider public which has led towards a unanimous call for immediate RCP leader resignation and withdrawal from office. These leaders have intentionally disrespected the profession and have through their own acts led the profession in to disrepute! THE PUBLIC DESERVES BETTER and SAFETY and QUALITY CARE MATTERS as a RIGHT TO HEALTH!!

The complete lack of integrity and insight shown by RCP leadership into the safety concerns raised in good faith by their members is indicative of a lack of concern for patients and the public, not to mention doctors they serve. The proliferation of the PA role must be suspended immediately until doctors (whose careers are on the line supervising PAs) and more importantly patients (whose lives are in their currently poorly trained and managed hands) can be assured of their safety, and this cannot occur while RCP seems intent on preventing productive discussion on the matter.

I feel what learning opportunities should be give to junior doctors, has been given to noctures

Bringing physicians associates to fill the gaps and getting cheap labour is demeaning the trust patients put on our Royal collages.

Taking advantage of the good nature of doctors and the PA’s for the benefit of gaining personal accolades, MBE’s / Damehood or climbing the ladder to suit the political disposition of the college fundamentally breaches the purpose or mission of the RCP. This issue raises ethical and moral issues which need re-addressing if the college intends to review and amend its stance. It was irrational or premature to enable the PA’s to practice without first considering their scope and the effect of risk upon patients. It was ill considered how the PA role out would affect doctors within the profession and the discontent this would create among doctors and the general public. I can only share feelings of utter dissapointment in the RCP and would hope that these failures trigger appropriate acts to resign forthwith. PA’s are being widely used by GP Practices and Trusts who choose to deploy them as doctor substitutes disregarding “any reasonable guidance to the alternative” this is being done without wider public consultation and politically motivated legislation has been rapidly progressed disregarding safety and risk to public as well as omitting patient choice.

The public need to know that they can avoid being treated by PAs

No confidence on RPC . Not a member but watched the video of meeting and they are just not fit for purpose . They aren't addressing doctors concerns for patient safety .

Safeguarding Medical profession is everyone’s moral responsibility.

RCP should be upholding standards for doctors and not selling out to the requests of the government

Absolutely ridiculous that Physicians Assistants introducing themselves as Members of the Royal College of Physicians. Completely debases the qualification of MRCP
