Please sign the petition to the UIL to include Archery as a team sport! Archery is the fastest growing sport in America for today's youth! There are currently 200 schools and growing that offer Adventures in Outdoor Education to expose kids to outdoor activities. The majority of these kids do not currently belong to UIL activities, and this is a perfect way to get them involved! As it stands now per TEA rules, kids get only one credit that counts towards their diploma on their transcripts, and can not participate any further during the school day. The kids need archery to be included as a UIL sport!

The emails I receive from families frustrated by these archaic credit limitations remind me why this fight is necessary despite the slow progress. I am currently compiling a report to press the board for a formal review of their current policies. It is exhausting work but the kids who deserve a place on the field keep me moving.

Reaching this milestone feels surreal after so many weeks of silence from the people in charge. It is exhausting to keep pushing against this wall but knowing there is a real community behind this effort keeps me going.

My daughter is a 5th grade archer at Harleton Elementary School. This year they went to state, nationals and also qualified for worlds. I would love for this sport to be recognized by the UIL.

Please, recognize that I work just as hard as all of the football players and soccer players and everybody else. Why is my sport any less important?

Archery is a full fledged sport, it should been accepted a long time ago. If tis in the Olympics it should be a UIL sport

Unlike many high school sports archery can be enjoyed for a lifetime. It promotes all the same values any other sport does and with NASP and other programs even children from families of limited means can be involved.

I am a proponent of the school system reflecting those that it taxes - and I believe that the vast majority of the state would benefit from a "getting back to the basics", and archery would aid in that goal. It teaches patience, discipline, teamwork, judgment and is a good outdoor activity that would benefit most of the students today
