My daughter is a 5th grade archer at Harleton Elementary School. This year they went to state, nationals and also qualified for worlds. I would love for this sport to be recognized by the UIL.

Please, recognize that I work just as hard as all of the football players and soccer players and everybody else. Why is my sport any less important?

Archery is a full fledged sport, it should been accepted a long time ago. If tis in the Olympics it should be a UIL sport

Unlike many high school sports archery can be enjoyed for a lifetime. It promotes all the same values any other sport does and with NASP and other programs even children from families of limited means can be involved.

I am a proponent of the school system reflecting those that it taxes - and I believe that the vast majority of the state would benefit from a "getting back to the basics", and archery would aid in that goal. It teaches patience, discipline, teamwork, judgment and is a good outdoor activity that would benefit most of the students today

Archery will develop skills in studnets that all sports/activities do: focus, effort, discipline, purpose, and teamwork. Any activity that promotes self worth needs to be supported and encouraged.

What a great way to get kids to build a new skill set, get additional exercise and an extra avenue for college.
