We, the undersigned residents of Del Webb Twin Lakes, respectfully submit this petition requesting the removal of the second speed bump located immediately inside the Phase 2 gates when entering from Nolte Road. After careful observation and daily experience, we believe this speed bump creates avoidable safety concerns, operational inefficiencies, and quality‑of‑life impacts for residents and visitors.

Reasons for Request

  • Redundant traffic control — A speed bump is already positioned before the gate. Once vehicles have passed through the gate arm, there is no demonstrated need for an additional traffic‑calming device.
  • Increased noise disturbance — Vehicles, particularly those towing trailers, must accelerate to clear the gate arm. Encountering a second bump immediately afterward results in loud impact noise that affects nearby homes.
  • Gate‑arm timing and safety conflict — Drivers often accelerate to avoid the gate arm closing on their vehicle or trailer. The second bump forces abrupt speed changes, creating unnecessary risk and mechanical strain.
  • Driver frustration and tailgating — Vehicles that slow excessively to navigate the bump cause delays and irritation for drivers behind them, increasing the likelihood of tailgating and unsafe behavior.
  • Traffic congestion at the entrance — The second bump slows vehicle flow and frequently causes backups into the roundabout, creating an unsafe traffic pattern at a high‑use entry point.
  • Road debris from trailers — Trailers accelerating to clear the gate arm often bounce over the bump, causing materials to fall into the roadway and creating hazards for following vehicles.
  • Low‑clearance vehicle issues — Vehicles with low ground clearance must navigate the bump extremely slowly to avoid scraping, contributing to backups and increasing safety risks.
  • Jarring ride for passengers — The second speed bump creates an especially harsh and uncomfortable jolt for passengers, particularly those riding in golf carts, which are more sensitive to abrupt changes in elevation.

Requested Action

We respectfully request that the HOA/CDD authorize the removal of the second speed bump inside the Phase 2 entrance to improve safety, reduce noise, and ensure smoother, more predictable traffic flow for all residents.

This speed bump is unnecessary and a nuisance. The gate controls the traffic well enough. Nobody is speeding through the access controlled phase 2 entrance

I agree with Jean, every time I take my husband to the doctors office because he is in a wheelchair and it’s so much pain from his illness. You can imagine what he feels going over those bumps.!!!!! Not only my husband, but everyone that has problems with their backs and any other medical problems that someone has ……

The speed bumps are an unnecessary inconvenience once one has entered the community and after exiting the Phase 2 gates.

That speed bump is really unnecessary there.
