A Letter of Urgent Petition to the Right Reverend Shannon S. Johnston Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia

We, the undersigned, members of the faithful at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Burke, Virginia appeal to you to immediately rescind the order of administrative leave placed on the Rev. Dr. Laurence K. Packard, Rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Burke, Virginia, so that he may resume his duties as Rector through the Diocesan Hearing Panel if necessary.  His forced absence from our parish life for unknown reasons and prohibition of any contact with him by members of this parish has created unwarranted turmoil and burdens while greatly imperiling the good order and welfare of this parish.
