My concerns and those of my fellow students regarding the grading system employed in the NURS310: Adult Health 1 course.
Our collective experience has highlighted several aspects of the grading process that we believe warrant reevaluation and modification:
- For ALL BSN nursing courses: Reevaluation of SATA Question Grading: We observed that partial credit was not awarded for these questions, despite the nature of SATA items allowing for the possibility of partial correctness. We believe that the absence of partial credit unfairly penalizes students who demonstrate partial understanding of the material.
- For Adult Health 1: Fall 2023 term: Discrepancy in the number of questions in the exam as compared to the standard practice in the nursing program exams comprising 50 questions. We experienced an exam with only 47 questions during the fall semester of 2023. This deviation from the established standard denies students the opportunity to earn three additional points, which affected final grades.
We believe that the issues highlighted above significantly impact the fairness and accuracy of the grading system for NURS310: Adult Health 1. In light of these concerns, we, the undersigned students of NURS310: Adult Health 1, respectfully request a comprehensive review of the grading system employed in the course.
