Petition for a George Washington University student referendum on Fossil Fuel Divestment
This is a petition to place a referendum on a Student Association Ballot. This is not a vote for fossil fuel divestment. Collecting signatures of 10% of the George Washington University's enrolled students will provide us with an opportunity to hold a referendum on fossil fuel divestment.
I support a student referendum that would ask the question, “Should the Board of Trustees of the George Washington University disclose and divest investments in firms that extract and refine fossil fuels that contribute to human-caused Climate Change?”

The signature threshold for a formal referendum has been officially met. I am currently finalizing the paperwork to present this petition to the Student Association for immediate review.

just put it on the ballot let us decide! stop dragging your feet.
we deserve to have a say in where our tuition money goes. divest now.
it is time for gw to actually step up and lead on this. why are we still putting money into companies that are wrecking the planet?
so many other universities have started this process. gw is falling behind.
RIDICULOUS that the school is still invested in this stuff. climate change is happening right now and we need to be on the right side of history.
