This petition is against the proposed rezoning of Agricultural lands in Elkhart, Illinois to M3-Extraction. The rezone proposal by applicant ICG Illinois LLC and Ark Land Company asks to expand the coal refuse sites in operation at the Viper Mine in Logan County to include new refuse dump sites and impoundments with accompanying structures. The citizens are against this proposed rezone because of the possible threat it poses to the health, water quality, air quality, tourism and community in Elkhart and Logan County.
