The 9th U.S. Circuit of Appeals ruled that American students of Live Oak High School can not wear a shirt with an American Flag on Cinco De Mayo (May 5th, the day of mexican independence) While the mexican students can where a shirt with the mexican flag on it. The 9th U.S. Circuit of Appeals ruled thatThe 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the officials’ concerns of racial violence outweighed students’ freedom of expression rights. Administrators feared the American-flag shirts would enflame the passions of Latino students celebrating the Mexican holiday.
