The City of Florence has asked one of our own resident businesses, Fitness World Gym of Darlington to remove his American Flag from outside his gym. The First Amendment of the United States Constitution allows for the Freedom of Speech. Freedom of speech is the political right to communicate one's opinions and ideas using one's body and property to anyone who is willing to receive them. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used with the medium being the flag. Asking a business owner to take down their flag is UN-American. This is America where men and women have fought for us valiantly so that we may have our rights as Americans. People may have their complaints as to whether or not we should be able to do this, but my question is what country are we living in? This is America, and the flag is our symbol of hope and freedom. If we follow through with removing the flag, then we are throwing away everything we have fought for. I speak for everyone when I say that we should be able to fly our flags proudly and I ask everyone to please sign this petition. Thank You and God Bless!
