Peter has always made himself available for guidance and assistance for both his current and non current students. Always patient, no question was ever deemed irrelevant. He is a great teacher, and we will be lost without him

As a professional in the industry myself, Peter is by far the most valuable asset you have in your interior design program. He was instrumental in my education. He is the quality instructor you absolutely need.

Peter Harlan is a huge asset that added value to the Interior Design Department! His approach to educating his students is cherished and respected to the utmost degree. Peter Harlan is a phenomenal instructor and I have learned so much from him. Information taught by him was essential to my learning experience. Not only does he take time out of his busy schedule to help in anyway he can, but he is considerate and cares that we the students understand what is being taught to us. He always had creative ways to engage students to learn with enthusiasm. He took time to help us understand and relate things to us for OUR benefit. HE CARED ABOUT OUR EDUCATION!!! MORE IMPORTANTLY, IT IS EXTREMELY RARE TO FIND AND HAVE QUALITY EDUCATORS LIKE PETER HARLAN. His absence DEVALUES what is left of the ID Department at the Illinois Institute of Art. Peter Harlan is a gem and letting him go was a big mistake along with the release of other great instructors that made the ID Department strong.

Peter Harlan is hands down the best teacher this school had. I waited to take certain credits during quarters when he taught those classes. Peter and John Manfredy were the two teachers that challenged me at this school and made the classes interesting. You have no idea what you have lost in letting Peter go and shame for the current students!

To Whom It May Concern: I've been a student at The Illinois Institute of Art since the Fall of 2010. Peter Harlan has been my professor for many classes, and I have a deep respect for him as a person and as a professor. He engages with you on a personal and professional level, taking care and concern into your education and making sure you understand the material at hand. His real life expertise and experience is continually discussed in the classroom to better help prepare us for the professional world. I believe the decision to let him go is a grave mistake. The quality of the program and asset that we had with Peter will be lost. I believe he is an essential part of our learning experience. Please reconsider this decision. Thank you. Peter Harlan is the type of professor that every instructor should strive to become, and every student wishes to have during his or her time in college. He is extremely knowledgeable, eager to teach, willing to share his experiences, and gives constructive criticism. Most importantly, he understands the art of teaching and genuinely cares for the growth of each student. He understands that each of us learns at a different pace, has a different set of skills and learns in a unique manner. There isn’t a single student that he hasn’t helped become better designers, and he has only grown into one the most respected professors the school had to offer. Letting go of Peter Harlan is a grave mistake and a very hurtful loss to the interior design department and its students. Bring him back.

peter harlan is a great professor. He takes time to help each student patiently and enjoy his teaching. he needs to be back. i was actually looking forward to take CAD 2 with him this coming up quarter and now we are not. please bring him back. its important for us students for interior design.

Peter cares about the success of every students learning a well as our professional lives. Without Peter at Ai, these qualities in an instructor are practically nonexistent. We love and need Peter!

I cant understand why Peter got fired. I really think he was one of the very few best professors at the institute. He was pretty helpful and he knew a lot about the field. All of the students want him back!!!!!

Valuable teachers are hard to find especially those that actually make an impact in our lives, but for Peter Harlan I can say that he is an amazing dedicated teacher with patience and much knowledge of what we are to face in the real world. We ask that you take our petition into consideration, and bring our teacher back.

Please keep Peter. The students and staff all love him. It's not easy finding professors that click with the students. Don't let him go.
