In 2002, the world was blessed with the most original and hysterical movie to grace the silver screen. 'Kung Pow: Enter the fist'
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist is a movie within a movie, created to spoof the martial arts genre. Writer/director Steve Oedekerk uses contemporary characters and splices them into a 1970s kung-fu film, weaving the new and old together. As the main character, The Chosen One, Oedekerk sets off to avenge the deaths of his parents at the hands of kung-fu legend Master Pain. Along the way, he encounters some strange characters, one of which is a cow trained in the martial arts.
The film received mixed reviews but nontheless gained a cult following, creating the demand for a sequel. The commentary on the DVD describes how Steve Oedekerk intended the film to be made into a trilogy but sadly, we are yet to be blessed with the follow up.
According to imdb.com, there is a 2008 scheduled release for the film but the information on that section has remained unchanged since 2002. There has not been a single update in the movie`s production since then. So unless we hear otherwise, we can assume that Steve has put it on the back burner for the time being. The point of the petition is to show Steve that there is a demand for the movie and to encourage him to at least give us some information in regards to the status of the production. After all, we are now a quarter of the way through 2008 and there has been no news. It takes time to make a movie and the splicing and editing involved in a Kung Pow movie also takes a lot of time. Are we likely to see this movie this year
Our aim is the obtain a minimum of 1000 signatures in support of Kung Pow 2's production. If we can get the group to reach 1000 members I think it would be worth bringing it directly to Mr. Oedekerk's attention don't you think Once that target has been achieved, we will be contacting O Entertainment to let them know of our petition and hopefully get some feedback on the film's production. So share with your friends and let's get this movie made!
Finally, this is a petition to encourage the comedic legend that is Steve Oedekerk to bring back our beloved Chosen One for at least one more outing. Please Steve, we beg of you!
I am honestly stunned to see so many people still interested in this journey after all this time. If you have a moment today please consider sending this link to someone else who might remember the Chosen One so we can get closer to that next milestone.
