Hampshire College states it "envisions a community known for practicing social justice as a goal of discourse, a responsibility of citizenship, and an accountable way to bring ideals to life in the world".
It is fair to say, the majority of students who choose to study at Hampshire College are here because they believe in Social Justice and hope to implement such principles in some form or another. Starting in Fall 2015, Hampshire College will not have a position for a Social Psychologist. Social Psychology offers the tools to understand individual behavior in a social context.
How are students expected and supposedly made "accountable" to advocate for Social Justice without the means of understanding what social justice entails?
If you believe Hampshire College would only benefit by creating a permanent position for a Social Psychologist, please sign this petition.

Tom Cain is one of the only reasons I made it to graduation. Y'all need to consider making him a full time professor.
I believe social psychology is a very important field and one that will help humanity eventually grow into a more utopian society.
This is a persistant problem at Hampshire. There should never be a time when a faculty member leaves or retires and is not replaced.
If Hampshire is proud to boast of its entrepreneurship program, they should be MORE than proud to have at least ONE social psychologist.
It's absolutely ridiculous that a college that prides itself as being affluent in the social justice community is willing to lose the only social psychology professor. Furthermore, the professor in question is not someone from the outside community hoping to get a new job. Rather it's a current visiting professor who simply wants job security.
