Hampshire College states it "envisions a community known for
practicing social justice as a goal of discourse, a responsibility of
citizenship, and an accountable way to bring ideals to life in the world".
It is fair to say, the majority of students who choose to study
at Hampshire College are here because they believe in Social Justice and hope
to implement such principles in some
form or another. Starting in Fall 2015,
Hampshire College will not have a position for a Social Psychologist. Social
Psychology offers the tools to understand individual behavior in a
social context.
How are students expected and supposedly made
"accountable" to advocate for Social Justice without the means of
understanding what social justice entails?
If you believe Hampshire College would only benefit by creating a permanent position
for a Social Psychologist, please sign this petition.
Thank you for the support! We've reached 100! Let's continue to get Hampshire interested in Social Psychology!
