It is simply unacceptable that any railway crossing in Australia does not have barriers or safety measures in place in the proximity of a primary school and residential area given the safety of our children & all residence in the Bayside area. We insist that the Bayside Council install these gates and safety measures as a matter of urgency, thank you.

It is completely unacceptable that a railway crossing with no barriers or safety measures in place are in proximity of a primary school and residential area. It is the most basic of expectations and our rights as voters and citizens that our children are kept safe from such dangers. As such we demand that the Bayside Council immediately install these gates and safety measures without delay.

I have seen children crossing these lines without paying any attention and it horrifies me that in this day and age there are no gates to protect not only only the children but all pedestrians using these lines to cross.

These gates can not come soon enough. I witness a Yr 6 school girl almost get hit by a train two months ago. She walked straight through with an oncoming train fast approaching. This train crossing is used daily by children from two primary schools and one Child Care Centre. I am in disbelief that there are no pedestrian gates there. This is a matter of urgency.

These gates need to be installed immediately to keep everyone safe of all ages! I stopped a teenage boy once from running across the railway lines after the train on our side went past. The signals were still going, but he didn't even think or pay attention that another train was coming the other way, which it was. He just said he was in a rush to get to school. He would have been hit by a train if I was not there. This is why gates are so, so important!

We need to ensure the safety of our school community especially children whom are unaware how dangerous the train crossing on New & Dendy Sts really is. Bayside council should be held responsible if an accident occurs but this will never bring back the person/child that will be involved in this accident waiting to happen. I have lived in Brighton for 25 years and this train crossing needs to be made safe for all of our community even for tourists who visit the area to visit the Brighton beach boxes. Please the safety of our community should be of the utmost importance.

It’s the governments responsibility to ensure the safety of all children crossing the railway road to and from school.

My parents who have hearing loss fetch my children from school across these tracks. The roads feeding into the roundabout are hard enough to cross on foot - the rail crossing amplifies the danger. Please protect community members as a priority.

This crossing is too close a school not to have gates installed. Please install pedestrian gates, so important for our community.

This intersection is a disaster waiting to happen. I cant believe nothing has been done to secure the crossing despite the fact a school is within 30 metres of the trainline. It took a fatalities at the New St & Church St crossings for safety upgrades to be instigated at these intersections. Lets not allow a terrible accident occur that can be clearly avoided.
