There is little point in putting in a crosswalk further down the road when the pedestrians will continue to ignore it. They are not going to come out of the footpath and then walk down the road to a zebra crossing. A light would certainly help the issue. That road is often used as a race track by people trying to avoid going around the town.

Crossing safely with my kids is a nightmare every morning. It is an accident waiting to happen.

Need lights. Not just paint on the road. Too many people dont stop for pedestrians there anyway.

How about a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights? I agree a crossing on its own at this blind spot could be more dangerous otherwise.

I would be worried that a crossing would increase the danger to pedestrians. I live on Acreman Street and both cross and drive down the road regularly. You cannot see the entrance to the prep school which houses the footpath until you are virtually on top of it as a driver, due to the bend and high walls. To put a crossing there would increase complacency amongst pedestrians thus making it potentially more dangerous. A better solution may be adding a crossing further down the road where drivers have had chance to negotiate the corner and give way section and can clearly see any hazards ahead. Plus a lot of the danger of crossing during peak periods come from traffic arriving at and leaving the prep school as regularly witnessed!

Cars fly down that road way too fast. Everyone in town knows it. Something needs to be done before someone gets hit properly.
