We are requesting that the city council amend Chapter 4 of the Code
of Ordinances entitled “Animals and Fowl” which will allow residents
to keep up to four backyard hens.
Action petitioned for:
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to
act now to pass the ordinance legalizing the keeping of chickens in
Providence, RI.
The momentum we have built makes it impossible for the Providence City Council to keep ignoring our demand for backyard hens. Those bureaucrats in City Hall are terrified of progress but we are keeping the pressure on until they rewrite this outdated ordinance.

The Providence City Council continues to drag their feet while residents are forced to jump through unnecessary hoops just to keep a few hens. I am tired of the excuses coming from city hall about these outdated ordinances that belong in the past. We are forcing this onto their agenda until they stop stalling and give us the right to farm in our own backyards.

We just hit 100 signatures and the Providence City Council needs to start listening. They are hiding behind outdated ordinances while we keep pushing for common sense.

My kids would love learning where food comes from. Such a simple thing and the city is making it so hard.

I been keeping chickens at my old place for years and never had an issue with neighbors. Honestly nobody even knows they are there.

Fresh eggs are way better than the stuff at the store. Let us have a couple hens in the backyard already.

Its ridiculous that I can have a dog but not a few chickens. They are quiet and helpful in the garden. Please fix this.
