Joining together for the peace and righteousness of Summit Christian Academy's (SCA, Clarks Summit, PA) Purpose, Mission, Christian testimony and future.

SCA Purpose: Summit Christian Academy partners with parents to offer a challenging biblically based education resulting in students who are motivated to confidently impact their world for Christ.

SCA's Mission: To operate a Christian, non-public, non-licensed school for the purpose of impacting lives for eternity through a biblically-based and Christ-centered education.

Philosophy of Christian Education: To provide an education which is biblically-based and Christ-centered, to prepare students spiritually, academically and physically to be college and career ready to assume positions of responsibility within local communities.

We who sign this petition would like the unresolved conflicts to be addressed and resolved through biblical mediation, preferably with the assistance of one of more certified biblical conciliator(s), with the support and involvement of the local churches that are currently or have financially supported the school.

The current board should be entirely replaced. A new board must be under the authority of a local church (or churches). The current board members have demonstrated a total lack of accountability to parents or to any church; they lack the transparency necessary to ensure financial integrity; they have been secretive in making certain policy decisions; they have hired certain family members and friends who are minimally qualified for the positions they hold. I have serious concerns about the future of the school if the current board members are not replaced.

As a recent alumna of SCA, I have become embarrassed and saddened by the state of the school. SCA has such a great potential for outreach in this and the surrounding communities. I hate to see it all go to waste. No church accountability (or any accountability at all!) is a huge part of the problem. A single person "ruling" has never been a good idea--history has shown us this, and has proven the need for a group of leaders balanced by the people. I pray frequently for the school and it's leaders, and I pray this is a step in the right direction.

Our enemy comes to steal our students potential  to kill their identity and  destroy the image of God in them. Jesus is LOVE an us as the Church have a big responsibility. We should embrace one another, just like Christ embrace the world. If we can't resolve in a godly manner our differences we will never accomplish our goal to reach those who do not know Christ.

Summit needs to be back under church authority with a board that acts as a board, not a single person "ruling" the school.

Please read the "Peacemaker" by Ken Sande if you have not been discipled in the biblical peacemaking principles. Conflict in an OPPORTUNITY to glorify God and lean on His Word. This is not about my kids who attended SBA from 1995-2003 or your kids. It is about Jesus Christ, the Gospel and the testimony we have in our community. Every believer has the ministry of reconciliation because we have been reconciled to Christ. In Josh McDowell's book, "The Last Generation," it reveals that 85% of Christian kids do not have a biblical worldview and that most of them are leaving the faith between ages 18-24. Possibly because our children see the church and its para-church organizations full of strife and unresolved conflicts. A Church or Para-church organization like a Christian school, can be a powerful tool, used in the right hands, to change a community. However, will we allow a school to perish after a 41 year history because we as a body will not obey the Lord by faith and be reconciled according to the Scriptures? Do we care enough and will we do whatever it takes to carry out the mission of making disciples starting with our own children? Did we not send them to Christian school so they could be equipped with a biblical worldview and then be released to impact their world. Jesus said, "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." He also said, "Fear not." We have to make a choice to begin again and fix the problem TOGETHER. I believe the answer to the problem starts with leadership. It starts with those who God has called to be pastors and leaders Peacemakers are called to exhaust every biblical and church remedy.

Simply put, we can see that in the future SCA needs to once again be under the authority of a local church--therein lies the root of the problem: no accountability. Our involvement with the school dates back to 1979. Our three sons are graduates of TBHS and four of our grandchildren were at SCA in recent years.. In our opinion, a Christian school should have pastoral representation on the school board. We wish the pastor to whom SCA's leaders are accountable would address their responsibility for the school's downward spiral and its present state of confusion. It may also be a good idea for the pastor to re-examine the leaders' Christian testimonies. It is our hope that SCA will return to godly leadership and thereby be salvaged. We support those who endeavor to do right and want to make things right once again at SCA.
