Pike County\'s central library has been housed in the same 2,500 sf building since 1901 when our county population totaled fewer than 9,000 citizens. The library has outgrown the current facility. The existing building is in poor condition,and has limited handi-capped accessibility. A building plan is underway to construct a new, expanded central library to meet the needs of our rapidly growing population of nearly 60,000 residents. This new 18,000 sf central library will be a focal point in the community, enriching quality of life and enhancing tourism in the county. We, the undersigned, recognize the economic development value, of a new central library for the Pike County Public Library.
