Pike County\'s central library has been housed in the same 2,500 sf building since 1901 when our county population totaled fewer than 9,000 citizens. The library has outgrown the current facility. The existing building is in poor condition, and has limited handi-capped accessibility. A building plan is underway to construct a new, expanded central library to meet the needs of our rapidly growing population of nearly 60,000 residents. This new 18,000 sf central library will be a focal point in the community, enriching quality of life and enhancing tourism in the county. We, the undersigned, recognize the economic development value, of a new central library for the Pike County Public Library. We support this project, and urge your approval of a $2 million matching grant to the Pike County Public Library under the Redevelopment Community Assistance Program (RCAP) to help make this new facility a reality. ============ After signing this electronic petition, the iPetition service will ask if you want to make a donation. NOTE: This is NOT a request to donate to Pike County Public Library, but, instead is a request to donate to iPetition. When presented with the solicitation screen, simply close out your browser. We encourage your support of the PCPL Building Fund! PLEASE SEND ALL DONATIONS TO THE PCPL BUILDING FUND TO PIKE COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY BUILDING TASK FORCE, P.O. BOX 1296, Milford, PA 18337.

The scale of this support has secured us a formal meeting with the county commissioners to review the RCAP grant application. I am currently finalizing the presentation materials to demonstrate how this library serves as a critical economic engine for our population growth.

Its about time. 1901 was a long time ago. Renovations are just a bandaid fix at this point.

We have too many people here now for such a tiny building. The poor staff are working in closets basically.

The current library is way to small for everyone in town now. We need the space for the kids programs!
