To the Mayor and members of the Oak Island, NC Town Council:
As our duly elected representatives, it is your fiduciary responsibility to serve the long-term best interests of the citizens of Oak Island.
As such, we as residents and property owners of Oak Island, are respectfully asking the following of the Mayor and Town Council:
- Pause voting on the Beach Renourishment Project for 60 days to allow additional due diligence for alternative cost-effective environmental solutions;
- Explore and exhaust all possible county, state and federal funding sources for the maintenance of/renourishment of state owned public coastline;
- Explore and exhaust all possible tax-based revenue streams to allow for an equitable distribution of cost without placing an undue burden on any one person or area including but not limited to sales tax, hotel tax, and property taxes.
- Explore and exhaust all non-tax based revenue streams.

The beach is not our private front yard and is open to everyone. Imagine having to personally be assessed for street repair in front of your house even though everyone uses it. Please be open to input and explore more equitable funding solutions. Thank you!
504 w beach. We live here For half of the year we receive no rental income during this time . We hope in a year or two retire here permanently. This will be a burden for limited fixed income families . 2nd row should not be zoned with 1st row .
With all due respect to the work that has already been done by our Town Council and Mayor, please pause this MSD assessment process and take time to fully disclose to ALL property owners the reasons for selecting this plan and the not selecting others.
Additional time would be invaluable and much appreciated. As a non -resident (as yet) property owner on E. Pelican and on W. Beach my Family will be greatly impacted. This is an opportunity to be heard without the ability to cast a vote on any community issue. Thank you.
Replenishment of sand that will wash away with the next hurricane is an endless - and extremely expensive job. Any beach improvements should be made with state and federal funds only. Homeowners don't own the ocean!
We need more time to come to a well investigated, sound, mostly agreeable solution.

Please...More time is needed to look into all possible funding resources, outside raising taxes on the residents of OKI. There are a lot of retired folks who moved here to enjoy their retirement and it shouldn’t become so over-taxed that they are forced to sell.
