He should be given his own parking space just for his length of service to the people of Brighton alone

Mears' stall is an institution...Pat has ALWAYS been there. The council should show some compassion and leniency.LET PAT STAY!

Thi man has been trading in the open market for years. I for one would be sad to see him go. Brighton council is being totally outrageous and petty.

I traded alongside the Mears brothers in the 1970’s. They were always perfect gentlemen and often successfully represented all the traders in negotiations with the council. By and large, traders and councils shared the same aims and worked together to keep the open market thriving. Pat’s problem seems to be that he is dealing with jumped up jobsworths, not council officers. Bring the Open Market back under direct council control and sack this unrepresentative quango

It sounds outrageous that Pat Mears is going to lose his licence to trade. Is this the actions of the Council or the market ? Either way it seems really harsh. The Mears family are a market institution.

Have a heart brighton council....you are such bullies...no respect for our local traders. So youd prefer the market to be empty. Just let the big corporation bulldoze their way in to demolish the whole market. Shame on you all
