You are taking his stall away for parking violations? He's elderly and struggling but still trying to work. Shame on you!

I was very sad to read about this . Can't the parking issue be resolved and Pat reinstated . We need to see elder people in public positions around the city otherwise a large portion of our populace becomes invisible , unrepresented . Balance will keep the city healthy.

Blind bureaucracy should be leavened with human decency.

This man has worked in the market all his life, and now because of a parking violation, the council have decide to take away his licence. They should be praising his work ethic, not taking his job away from him

The Council is out-of-order. Also it shows no respect and empathy for Pat Mears a longstanding trader.

I have not lived in Brighton for 10 years as I am now in Australia but I remember this man from my childhood. He is a stand up member of the Brighton community and the way he is being treated after all the years he has been trading is rediculous

People make mistakes and old-time thinking may be at work, but officialdom is the doom of this city. It used to be a friendly and laid-back place - now just an asset to be exploited for no benefit to the lawful tax-payers, just just the grabby corrupt businesses (also called social enterprise) .

The site owners/managers should find a solution to allow him to park close by.

Shamefull Mr Mears and his family are part of Brighton's history - disgusted at his treatment. He should be allowed to stay and given a dedicated parking space.

I hope this story gets into the local press and on to the radio. This is just wrong. There must be some solution to be found, whoever is in the wrong. A business can't be taken away like this. He's a great guy and I always enjoy buying my veg from him. The market just wouldn't be the same without him. I will do everything I can personally to share this story and stop this from happening.

Its really out of order that he has been forced out after all these years trading. He needs to stay and he is a lovely guy

It's wrong that someone who been at the market more than anyone else has been told to go over parking

Loyalty, he and his family have supported the community for decades. Let's have a bit of loyalty for Pat and support him NOW!
