Kevin Kowalcyk died at the age of two and a half after eating meat that was contaminated with E coli 0157:H7. He developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and suffered greatly before his death on August 11th 2001. Right now, meat packing plants are the only ones responsible for restricting the amount of bacteria present in the meat they distribute. Please sign this petition to assure that Kevin's Law is passed so that the USDA has more control over the meat packing industry so that more people are not dying prematurely as a result of eating contaminated meat. Justice needs to be served.

Reaching this point has been physically draining but seeing so many people recognize the necessity of this fight gives me the push I need to keep going. I am exhausted by the state of our food safety laws but I am not turning back now. This momentum is the only thing keeping me upright.

Heartbreaking story. No parent should ever have to go through this. We need real oversight on meat packing plants right now.

Kevins law is way overdue. our food supply needs to be safe for everyone and these plants need to be held accountable for the poison they are shipping out.
