My name is ____, and I am the current President of the University of Delaware Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity. The University of Delaware has established a policy in which it states only full-time students may be members of an Executive Board in Resident Student Organizations (RSO\'s). The policy is as follows: "Voting membership or holding officer positions in a student organization is limited to full-time undergraduate matriculated students only, unless specific exceptions are approved by the respective administrative office." I have been presented with a problem regarding the University of Delaware\'s current policy. I do not need to take the course load of a full-time student in order to graduate in the Spring of 2008. I am also currently busy preparing for the Law School Admission Test, in addition to completing my Law School applications. Therefore, I wish to be a part time student with nine credits. I am extremely dedicated to Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity and believe that the University of Delaware needs a strong Pre-Law organization that is a valuable resource for all students considering a legal profession. The consequence of this policy would be to deny me the opportunity to implement my innovative ideas to Phi Alpha Delta and help pre-law students in general. I would also like the administration of the University of Delaware\'s Student Centers to consider the fact that this policy in question latently denies leadership experience and resume-building opportunities to students with financial or academic issues. This policy, however, does allow for specific exceptions through administrative approval, and that is what this petition seeks to gain. Even if the University of Delaware disregards my personal situation and the implications of its policy, this petition falls under a specific exception that allows for the policies and actions of a Resident Student Organization to be determined by its own members. This policy is clearly stated in the University of Delaware Student Centers\' Policies under the "Membership, Voting, and Officers" section, which is located at: http://www.udel.edu/student-centers/policy/policy_freedomofassoc.html#membership. The signing of this petition by Phi Alpha Delta members at the University of Delaware indicates an endorsement of me as President of this organization; even though I will be a part time student. We, the undersigned, endorse _____ as President of the University Of Delaware Chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, bearing in mind that he will be registered as a part-time student.
