The Parrsboro Aboiteau Restoration Committee (PARC) has formed to petition the County of Cumberland. We ask that they aid our efforts to restore the 100 year historic water levels in the Parrsboro Aboiteau.
Gates and a new fish ladder would logically be replaced when the new bridge is installed in 2021-22.
From the 1912 Town Council minutes we learned that the Aboiteau was first installed to “further beautify the Town while providing bathing and boating opportunities”. A small lake would enhance our social, cultural and historic interests.
PARC needs to gauge local support before moving forward.

I have lived in Parrsboro all my life and have fished, boated, skated, rafted, watched snowmobile races, and played ice hockey on this body of water. It looks beautiful when full of water and functions as a outdoor recreation centre. I want it restored to its former glory!
This town needs this resource, we have gone way too long without it. It is also an eye sore and smells. There are more reasons to do this than just recreational. I believe it is very important environmentally., the birds and fish.
Have enjoyed Eagles, turkey vultures, comorants, blue Herons, kingfishers and more but only when there is sufficient water. Please keep water IN the Aboiteau !!
At the heart of our town there was once a beautiful lake where young and old would fish, swim, paddle and skate. Now there is a mudhole and a sewage treatment facility. Please help us restore the beauty and function of our waterfront boardwalk and recreation area!
Although I live far away, my hometown is Parrsboro andI think this would help with some winter tourism...the summer is always busy but this could bring folks in for hockey games, skating parties or whatever someone's imagination could dream up!
I think a lock to lower and raise non polluting sailing vessels and pleasure craft

This a well known tourist town and I would like to see it restored and have a beautiful walking park all around the area with benches and shrubs and flowers so everyone in the town, not just visitors could enjoy it too. It would also be nice to take your mom or dad there that might be stuck in a nursing home or seniors complex all day.
