WE WON THE PARKING BAN IS OFFICIALLY RESCINDED!! I AM BEYOND THRILLED THAT WE SECURED THIS VICTORY TOGETHER. THANK YOU TO EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO HELPED US FORCE THIS CHANGE!!
To: The Mayor and Council of Halifax Regional Municipality
We, the undersigned, are all citizens of this city. WE HEREBY PROTEST the
declaration of the WINTER PARKING REGULATIONS requiring all vehicles to be
off the street from 1:00 AM TO 7:00 AM from December 15, 2008 to March 30,
2009 due to the FINANCIAL BURDEN of renting off-street parking due to the
LACK OF PARKING near our residences, the SAFETY OF CITIZENS having to walk
long distances from their vehicles late at night, and the UNNECCESSARY AND
UNREASONABLE NATURE of the regulations. These regulations have been
declared with only a few days notice in the midst of RECORD HIGH
TEMPERATURES IN HRM. They represent a SAFETY RISK and ADDITIONAL COSTS for
citizens to bear in clearing city streets which IS ALREADY PAID FOR THROUGH
OUR TAXES. Furthermore, these regulations unreasonably require citizens to
park their vehicles off the street even if there is no accumulated snow or
predicted storms. WE DEMAND THAT THESE WINTER PARKING REGULATIONS BE
WITHDRAWN IMMEDIATELY.
Where am I supposed to park? The city ignores the fact that half of us live in old apartments with zero parking included. Stop making this our problem.

Already pay enough property tax to have the roads cleared. Now I have to pay an extra 150 a month for a private driveway? Unreal.

Just use common sense. Ban it when there is a storm coming not every single night for months.

Total joke. Walked 4 blocks to my car last night in the dark. How is that safer for anyone? Fix this.

Ridiculous. My street is bone dry and I have nowhere to put my car at 2am. Tired of paying for a spot I dont need just to avoid a ticket.
